"No signal" can have several causes: EDID/handshake, cable, power, an intermediate device, an unsuitable video mode or hardware. So test in a fixed order.

Quick test

  1. Keep the route short.Source → Dr HDMI → display.
  2. Check INPUT and OUTPUT.The source belongs on INPUT, the TV/monitor/projector on OUTPUT.
  3. Try bank 4.720p is a useful conservative compatibility test.
  4. Try bank 3.Then test 1080i.
  5. Try bank 2 or 1.Only go higher once the basic connection is stable.
  6. Test bank 8.With a working direct connection, copy the display's EDID.

Still black?

Test another short HDMI cable and, if needed, USB power. Only add the receiver, splitter or extender back once the direct connection is stable. That is how you tell EDID problems apart from cable or hardware problems.

Causes Dr HDMI does not fix

HDCP

If the source requires HDCP and the display does not support it, the screen stays black. The Dr HDMI passes HDCP through unchanged.

Too much bandwidth

The Dr HDMI passes a maximum of 225 MHz. A source sending 4K does not fit through it; set the source to 1080p or choose bank 3, 4 or 5.

Hardware

No EDID manager can repair a faulty port, a broken cable or an underpowered active cable.
