Which download do I need?

If you want to update the firmware and manage custom EDID, start with FW 2.1 + EDID Utility 1.0. If you only want to manage EDID profiles, the stand-alone EDID Utility 1.0 is meant for that job. If Windows does not recognise the Dr HDMI via USB, install a suitable Silicon Labs driver package. You only need to install drivers once; they apply to all HDfury devices.

If you connect the Dr HDMI to a Windows 10 PC before installing any drivers, Windows 10 fetches the driver from the internet by itself. You then don't need to install anything manually and can use the utility and updater from the driver 3.9.2 folder.

Important: this download section is exclusively for the original Dr HDMI. Do not use firmware from the Dr HDMI 4K or Dr HDMI 8K here.

The Dr HDMI communicates through a Silicon Labs (Silabs) USB chip using the USBXpress driver. In Device Manager it then shows up as USBXpress Device. Work through these steps in order:

1. Let Windows try first. Connect the Dr HDMI without installing a driver beforehand. Windows 10 and newer fetch the driver through Windows Update. Then use the utility and updater from the driver 3.9.2 folder.
2. Install an HDfury driver package. Driver 3.9.2 works on USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, driver 4.0.0 is for USB 3.0 on Windows 10, and for Windows 11 there is the USBXpress package above. In the utility, use the folder that matches your driver version.
3. Still not working? Then download the latest driver from Silicon Labs itself: the Direct Access Drivers (the new name of the USBXpress drivers), Downloads tab. Do not choose the CP210x VCP drivers: they are meant for a virtual COM port and do not help here.
4. Try another port. A USB 2.0 port or a different cable solves a recognition problem surprisingly often.

If it still does not work, contact HDfury support. Mention your Windows version and how the Dr HDMI is shown in Device Manager.

1. Connect the Dr HDMI to the Windows PC via Mini-USB.
2. Use the official EDID Utility for the original model.
3. Read, load or edit the EDID you want.
4. Write the profile to user bank 6 or 7.
5. Select the bank on the device and let the HPD event complete.

Keep a copy of a working EDID before you experiment. Banks 1–5 are factory presets; bank 8 is reserved for the EDID read from the sink with the middle button.

According to HDfury, a firmware upgrade is sent to the device with a single .exe file; no additional software is needed. Launch the .exe and follow the instructions. Only use files that are explicitly intended for the original Dr HDMI. Firmware for the Dr HDMI 4K or Dr HDMI 8K belongs to different hardware.
